This scene is from a small portion of Western North Carolina that qualifies as a temperate rain forest (the Highlands Plateau, near Cashiers). This particular scene is downstream from Charlie Falls. The Appalachian Mountains have a feel unique to them... a certain mixture of lushness, gentleness, and a sense of time. Anyone familiar with the area could identify this as an Appalachian scene immediately!
