Description
This piece simultaneously conveys a sense of action and a sense of tranquility at the same time. The motion of the small wave, as well as the many clouds, give the sense of a world in motion, while the reflection seems to freeze the world in place. The irony is that the reflection was the most fleeting part of this scene, even moreso than the wave. The shimmery film of water only existed for a brief moment between the suds dispersing and the water sinking into the sand. That is what I love about photography. Many people like to consider it a documentation of reality, but it can't show time. And a reality without time is no reality at all.
