This is an image from deep within the Costa Rican tropical rain forest. I love this photo for its initial appearance of homogeneity... just a bunch of leaves, all the same shade of green. But after a few minutes of gazing, a world of vibrance and eccentricity emerges – one based on size and shape. The variety of leaves in these forests is mind-boggling, and can entertain the eye for hours.
